Church Walks

"seeking to proclaim the Gospel and serve our local community"

Christ Church Walks

Here at Christ Church, we have a monthly programme of walks.

Our friendly group does walks of 2-4 miles (3-6 kilometres) in the beautiful Sussex countryside, or sometimes down by the coast, or in a town.

Occasionally, we go further afield, usually in one of the summer months. In the last two years, we have done a pilgrimage walk from Bosham to to Chichester Cathedral,  the Cuckmere Pilgrim Path in East Sussex, and walks in the City of London – following a trail on the Great Fire of London 1666 – and a walk to Chanctonbury Ring and Cissbury Ring on the downs in West Sussex

The walks are usually held on the third Sunday of the month, meeting here at Christ Church at 1.00 p.m. and then car sharing to the starting point at around 1.30 p.m.

The walks are open to both church members and to others who just enjoy a country walk. Dogs are also welcome as long as they bring considerate owners.

April walk – April 19

This will be our second attempt our Brighton city centre walk. Andrew Buxton will take us to “Unexplored Brighton – from the Clock Tower to the Greenway”. Meet at Prison Cross Roads bus stop to catch 1324 bus to Brighton, arriving Churchill Square at 1359. We will start from the Clock tower around 2.00 p.m. and see various places of interest en route, including some public art. Bring your bus pass if you have one.

May walk – May 17

Our walk on Sunday May 17 will take us to Chailey Common. This is one of the largest areas of common land in SE England, and is protected for its heather heathland and its bird and insect communities. More about Chailey Common can be found here:

All our walks are subject to weather conditions, particularly in the winter months
