'The Christ Church ThinkTank has been in existence for over 10 years. It draws on speakers from all the churches in the Lewes area. Our speakers provide their services without charge, so our meetings are free and open to all. Whether you go to church or not, come whenever the topic interests you. The format is 45 minutes talk and 45 minutes discussion and our average attendance is about 30. All meetings are from 7.30 pm to 9 pm.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 15 January 2020, when Dr Elizabeth Craig will be speaking on:
Northern Ireland and Europe
Elizabeth is a member of the congregation at South City Church, Portslade. She was awarded a degree in Law with German at Sheffield in 1997, and a doctorate at Queen's University Belfast in 2006. Since 2014 she has been a senior lecturer at the Sussex Centre for Human Rights Research. She has special interest in minority rights and has advised governments on minority issues. The place of Northern Ireland in European history has been a subject of both controversy and hope, and crucial in tension between the UK and the EU. Elizabeth will share some of her own personal experiences of growing up near the Irish border and reflect on some of the human rights challenges posed by Brexit in the Northern Ireland context.
CAROLS ON THE GREEN
Every year, just before Christmas, we join with our friends from St.Anne’s church and the Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band on the Nevill Green, for a service of Christmas Readings and Carol Singing, together with hot mince pies and mulled apple juice.
Carols on the Green for 2019 will be on:
Sunday, 15 December at 2:30 pm.
We hope to see you there!
